Jasmine Plant Secret Growing Tips, That Doubles Growth & Flowering!

If your Jasmine plant is not blooming properly, it’s usually due to the care method. Wrong watering alone can stop plant growth completely.

And in this guide, I’ll tell you exactly how you need to care for your Jasmine plant. In order to get a lot of blooms, we will discuss everything from the right season to the soil, and most importantly, the fertilizer that boosts flowering even more.

1-Plant it in This Season!

Jasmine Plant Flowers

One of the most important things that people often miss while growing a Jasmine plant, and which can stop its growth completely, is the wrong season.

Beginners often grow Jasmine plants like any other common plant, which it is not. It requires a specific environment in order to produce lots of leaves, buds, and flowers. When these conditions are right, you see the plant explode with growth.

When I started growing Jasmine plants, I made the exact same mistake of growing them whenever I liked. My plants struggled a lot after a while.

I understood that this plant grows really well as the summer season begins. But during cold weather, the growth stops, and you may see yellow leaves and no flowering, which is totally normal.

Its growing season starts as soon as the spring season begins, and it continues throughout summer. And here is the secret that only nurseries know, and they use it to their advantage.

During peak summer heat, the Jasmine plant temporarily stops growing. That is why nurseries keep their Jasmine plants under some shade during such times.

2-Use Such a Soil Mix…

Moist Soil Mix Of jasmine Plant

Another thing that matters a lot while growing Jasmine flowers in pots is the soil mix. Without a good soil mix, you cannot expect a lot of flowers on your plant. You may also see little or no growth when it is planted in clayey or poorly draining soil.

Here is the soil mix that I use, and it works amazingly well. But before I tell you the soil ingredients, understand that the Jasmine plant likes a loose, well-draining soil mix.

If the moisture consistently stays in the soil, it can stunt plant growth. And that is one reason why we see no Jasmine blooming, even during the growing season.

Believe me, using this kind of soil mix provides a lot of benefits. And here is the soil recipe.

  • Sand – 1 part:
  • Garden Soil – 2 Parts:
  • Cocopeat – 1 part:
  • Compost – 1/2part:
  • Cow dung – 1 bowl:

3-Does Pot Size Matter?

Grow bag

Another important thing that is often missed by beginners while growing Jasmine flowers in pots is the size of the pot. Originally, the Jasmine plant is grown in the ground. It becomes a bush and produces a lot of flowers. And one reason behind so much growth is the space these plants have.

In a limited pot of soil, we cannot expect a lot of growth unless we provide a bigger pot. As the root growth stops in a small pot, leaf growth also stops, and flowering becomes difficult.

If your plant is mature, you should make sure it has plenty of space to grow even further. Enough space and a good fertilizer encourage the plant to grow more and produce lots of blooms.

And don’t worry, I’ll tell you all about this tested homemade fertilizer in just a bit.

A while ago, my Jasmine plant became root-bound. I checked by digging into the soil, and there were a lot of roots. But the plant’s growth was very slow and stunted, so I gave it a bigger pot.

Afterwards, the growth exploded. Make sure your plant has enough space. Some good-sized grow bags are also added Here.

4-Why You Shouldn’t Keep it in the Sun?

Jasmine Flowers

One thing that nurseries do differently, and never tell a common person, is the right placement of the plant. It’s an important factor in the healthy and faster growth of a Jasmine plant.

Too much sunlight can limit plant growth and flowering, and too little sunlight can do the same. So, here is how to maintain the right balance.

A Jasmine plant requires at least 2 to 4 hours of sunlight on a daily basis. If the sunlight is not too hot, you can place it in full-day sunlight.

But when the temperature becomes too high, like in June and July, you should provide some shade for the plant, just like nurseries do.

If you are growing your plants on the rooftop like me, immediately move the plant into some shade because rooftops become much hotter during these months.

In recent years, while visiting many nurseries and talking to their owners, I discovered a lot of tricks that they use around their plants. Which is exactly why their plants look so healthy and keep growing throughout the year.

I tried to summarize all of these secrets, along with how a home gardener can apply them, in this short book. It’s added Here. Feel free to take a look.

5-The Fertilizer Recipe I Use!

Organic Fertilizer For Flowering Plants

Now let’s talk about the fertilizer recipe that I am so keen about. I’m excited because it’s a complete source of nutrition, exactly what a Jasmine plant needs.

It contains all the essential plant nutrients in a balanced amount. Using this fertilizer once a month makes a huge difference.

Before I tell you the fertilizer ingredients, here’s a short story. When I started growing plants, I was totally clueless about which fertilizer to use. There were so many options.

After several failures, I prepared a fertilizer recipe that can be used on plants during their flowering stage, and the results were really amazing. It worked well on winter flowering plants as well as summer bloomers.

To make this fertilizer at home, you can use cow dung, kitchen waste compost, dried potato peels, and some eggshells. Prepare it and use it on your Jasmine plant. A guide is also added right here if you need more instructions.
